Crafty, Thrifty or Cheap?

Every year, I am a part of Vacation Bible School at our church. It's always a fun time for the adults and kids. This year; while we were planning, we came across a snafu (is that really a word even?). The kids take home a plastic token every night that reiterates that night's Bible theme. This year, the tokens would cost roughly $200 to furnish 35 kids with a set of 5. Holy Cow! You have got to be kidding me! How could these people jack up the price of something that should practically be free?

We took it upon ourselves to recreate the trinkets for less than half the price. Shrinky Dinks rock!

  2. How incredibly creative! I'll bet the kids like the handmade ones better. :)

  3. I'll bet the children like the handmade ones better, too. Good grief on the prices! Maybe put that in your Etsy shop.

  6. Awesome and great job! I love shrinky dinks (and used them last winter to make little name zipper pulls for my kids' jackets).

And I guess if you're being picky, SNAFU would fall under the acronym category.

  9. Great idea!! I think you can also make them out of clear plastic take-out containers. I know I read something about that on someone's craft blog.
