My Cup Runneth Over and So Does My Hand
Only a momma would try to catch her child's vomit in her hand. Middle of the night, you wake up with a baby in the crook of your arm. He starts to cough that "I'm about to vomit" cough and you know it's coming. You sit him up really fast and cup your hand lovingly under his chin. You catch the first round ... success!
Now what?
You glance over in the dim haze from the yard light and either a) the hubby is in a fever-induced sleep or b) pretending to be in a fever-induced sleep. You're on your own. You can hear the second bought gurgling up from the pit of his wee stomach. You make the split second decision to dump the first handful (onto the hubby's prized blanket) and catch round 2. Dump, Lather ... Repeat.
Flash forward a couple of hours. You're perusing the produce aisles for "scrawberries for me MOM!" And you hear it. Out shoots your right hand, your left grabs her hair back from her face. Now, what do you do when your hand reaches capacity? That's right! Dump it right on the pristine high end grocery store floor.
Why even try in the first place?
Primal, animal instinct. Me momma - Me Catch Puke.
So yeah ... we have some kind of stomach flu going around here. Puts the P.U. in P.h.U.n.

Awww. Poor sickies!
Anyone who's not a momma would be totally grossed out by this...but it's just part of the job!
I remember right after X-man was born, I was changing his diaper and my mom happened to be visiting. She was in the room with me and as I took off his diaper, a little, hard pooplet rolled out of the diaper and onto the floor. Without really thinking, I just bent down, picked it up and dropped it right back into the diaper. My mom looked at me and said, "You are sooooo a mom!!"
Lisa, I was howling reading this. I do it too! Xander was in the hospital and he was throwing up. Why would I catch it there? But I did!
Sorry your family is sick. I hope it ends soon. (((hugs)))
I am cracking up! I know exactly what you are talking about. Callee was this kind of sick a few weeks ago and I am certain I also did this. Hope they are feeling better! I can't even imagine how sickness travels amongst 4 b/c it sucks with 2.
That was one of the first signs that I had officially joined the club. It's gross. It stinks. Yet, I try to catch it at all times.
Oh Gross...but I've been there, done that. And there is NO ONE else I would do that for but my son. Not even my husband ... I'm out of there.
Hope everyone is feeling better!!
Ah yes, the puke catch. Much like the "poop up the back" cleanup. Motherhood is glamourous! HOpe you all feel better soon!
Oh Lisa you're a super mom lol. I did not ever thought about catching my little ones' vomit with my hands. I found a bag or a blanket in the past tho.
Poor thing :( and Poor you.
If it makes you feel any better. I once ate an ABC (already been chewed) banana in the middle of Target. Ariel decided she was done with her snack.. including the last bite she took. Sigh. Gross.
I love how real you are! Life is not always peaches and cream especially when the family is sick. I can only aspire to be a super mom like you but I am not sure if my reflexes are that quick.
OH man, you totally made my stomach get queezy! Ha, been there done that though.
I'm now a follower of your blog. Stopped by via "the top mom blog" site!
So cute! Nice to meet you!
