All Good Things Must Come to an End

I spent a good bit of yesterday in tears. We had to make a tough decision for our family, but I know in my heart that we made the right choice. Without going into too many boring details; I'll say that we decided the best thing for our dog and our family was to find a new home for him. Archie listed him on craigslist and got a call within 5 minutes from a woman that wanted to be 1st on the list as a prospect to get him. She continued to call and/or e-mail and came to pick him up before lunch. I had no idea that it would be so easy to find a new home for him. I mean, I know he's a beautiful dog, but he's so BIG and so much a troublemaker. In the end, he went to a family with 3 kids. They'll keep him inside and planned on house training him and all that jazz. I know in my heart that he'll be very happy with his new family. It was just terribly hard to see him go.

On a happy note. The mom already sent an e-mail saying that Chip has settled in well and they had taken him to the groomers. She even sent pictures of him with her kids. I know he'll be happy and that will make us happy. Sometimes you have to do the right thing no matter how much it hurts.

Good-bye sweet Chippie!

I feel your pain. I'm in the process of trying to find a home for our dog. She's just too much to take care of and isn't getting the attention she's used to. It's so hard but in your heart you know it's the right thing to do.

Oh, I'm sorry! We went through that just a year ago with Ruby-it was so hard! (I default to short term dog sitting to get me through the longing for my other baby again) I'm glad you found a good family for him, that really does help!
Reason 573 not to have a critter: It's really really hard to let them go! (sorry, ;) I had to!)
Oh, and if you haven't read Marley and Me, you need to!

I was so mad at that stupid dog all the time. I even took my gun out to exact my revenge the other day and Gavin didn't bat an eye. he asked Lisa "I wonder what dad's gun will sound like?" I knew it was time. i am sad to see him go even though he was always on my 'list'.

BTDT! I'm so sorry...they do wiggle their way into our hearts, don't they? But, as the pain of his absence lessens, you'll truly appreciate your decision.

I was distraught for weeks after we had to "relocate" Marshall. I was bad to the point that DH thought of getting him back....but he snapped at our other dog....we couldn't trust him with the kids *sniff* Now I'm crying. He's a dog! He's a dog! (I keep repeating that mantra, hoping it helps. :) ) (((HUGS)))
