The Smallest Usher
A couple of weeks ago, our church had a "Kid's Sunday" where the kids got to do a lot of the jobs or duties usually performed by an adult. Silas did the scripture reading. He did really well with it and even got a call from an older church member commending him on the job well done.
Along with 2 other kids, Silas and Gavin performed the usher duties. Our church passes 2 offering plates down the different sides of the church. They had the Cameron boys on the same side (possibly a mistake) and they were supposed to pass the plate down each row and then move to the next row. Archie and I were sitting in the very back and couldn't see what happened.
We heard the commotion and the laughter, but never knew what happened until another member filled us in.
There was a lone man sitting at the end of a pew and in true Gavin style, he had taken the plate, placed it on the pew and slid it as hard as he could to the man. I'm just thankful that the plate didn't hit the floor and that the receiver was a good catcher.
